2-15

Today we were able to find a garage door motor that had the sensors we needed. After disassembling about half of the motor case, we wanted to test it and see if the motor and electronics worked. But beforehand we removed the wires that power the light and forgot to check that they weren't touching anything and one ended up shorting out on the metal base and fried the circuit board. Luckly we had a spare circuit board that would work with the motor. After we tested everything and made sure it all worked, we began to figure out how we were going to turn the pipe to move our spikes.

feb 7-14

We have found a garage door opener and have cut the hole for the garage door opener to stick in. We will gain access to the opener this weekend. In the mean time we have begun to make out camshaft mechanism that will make the screws stick up into the tire. It is a piece of pvc pipe whith taller pieces screwed onto it to push the screws up as it rotates.

week of jan 31-feb 6

This week we had only one day of school due to snow. We continued our design which is together including supports throughout the entire speedbump that has been build. The garage door opener that we went to look at on monday, was not the correct type with the sensors. We are continuing our search for a garage door opener.
